On the Generation of Artificial Sounds by Computer
Clara Cheng, R. C. T. Lee · 2010
In this paper, we discuss our method to generate artificial music sounds. We have generated music sounds for piano, violin, organ, flute and bell. They are reasonably pleasing to ears. The basic idea of our method is to have a Fourier transform of a music pitch, say middle C of a music instrument. Based upon the result, we then can generate all pitches for this music instrument with the knowledge of the fundamental frequencies of these pitches. The result of playing Amazing Grace by our artificial sounds can be heard by accessing web-sites provided in this paper.
