Goel SURENDRA K. GOEL,3 A. M. ASCE.-The authors have presented some interesting concepts on the formulation of decision logic tables. This writer has used decision tables extensively (4,5) and he is fully convinced of their utility in documenting complex logical situations.Recently, there has been an upsurge in interest about decision tables.Any attempt to formalize their formulation technique is, therefore, timely and extremely valuable. The authors have devoted considerable attention to the size of condition vector, given the number of parameters involved in a problem. However, all the formulative examples considered contain parameters belonging to onedimensional space, i.e., all the parameters can be compared to one another, as is evident from the authors' Figs. 4 and 5. Unfortunately, such is not always the case in practical problems.Coverage of the other possibilities, however, does not require new concepts but extension of the existing ones as the authors have demonstrated in Example 2.In the writers experience, however, accounting for all the conditions while formulating a condition vector generally does not present any problems. The
