Modulated splines: A bases for digital signal processing

MJ Flaherty · 1st IASTED International Symposium on Signal Processing and its Applications · 1987

A novel technique for signal representation is presented which combines the desirable properties of polynomial splines with Fourier techniques in an attempt to produce a representation which does not assume signal stationarity and is efficient for modulated processes. One method for obtaining the representation is discussed. The analysis of a synthetic vowel with known formant parameters and a stop-consonant / vowel pair of real speech is given to demonstrate the procedure.
