Microprocessor-based Data-acquisition Systems for Control of Laboratory Experiments

HA Kellock, WG Thege · 1977

Microprocessors are becoming increasingly used as the control elements in laboratory data handling and processing systems. A brief description is given of the hardware modules developed at Materials Research Laboratories, Maribyrnong, and of the software and hardware aids to programming currently employed in the implementation of microprocessors at MRL are covered in depth, the first being a traditional 'data logging' task for a high-power-laser project, the second being an intelligent processor of data from a gas chromatograph. The use of high-level languages to speed the development of programs is described.
