Lessons Learnt from the UoW-IDGP Smart_ID Project

David Bomba, John Fulcher, Andrew Dalley · 2002

The Smart ID project is a collaboration between the University of Wollongong and the Illawarra Division of General Practice involving patients, GPs, administrators, computer programmers and health informatics researchers. It is a pilot project which developed a smart ID system utilising USB i-keys, Medical Director and the WWW for use amongst a trial diabetes patient group and their GPs. We report on the evaluation outcomes of the technology implemented to date, both from the view of patients and GPs, as well as how we worked together and learned from one another throughout the project. The paper outlines a constructive way of thinking not only about project management but also collaboration between universities and industrial partners.
