Why One Signing Key Is Not Enough

Jacky Hartnett · eCite Digital Repository (University of Tasmania) · 2003

Digital signatures do not possess completely equivalent properties to physical signatures. An important difference is that a digital signature is based around the ability of only one individual to use a particular encryption key. It is thus possession of the ability to use an object that creates a digital signature. This means that an individual needs to possess several signing keys as they do physical keys and also should examine the policies for using these keys, depending upon the value associated with the signature that they create.
