Introduction to Query Analyzer
Josef Finsel · Apress eBooks · 2001
In the previous chapter , the Query Analyzer (QA) was introduced as a tool useful for analyzing data and creating indices. Now, you maybe asking yourself why you need a tool like the Query Analyzer. After all, you can create and manipulate your database in the Enterprise Manager (EM), and tools like the View Designer create joins for you to use. Aren’t we taking a step backward when talking about what—on the face of it—is a non-graphical tool? Well, we shall see. This chapter will provide a brief introduction to the QA. Then we’ll look at some Transact SQL commands that every Reluctant Database Administrator should know, and finally we’ll go into a few of the QA’s new features. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
