Recent Changes to IEEE Std 1012

An update to the standard IEEE Std 1012-1998 was published in June 2005, designated IEEE Std 1012-2004. This chapter presents a highlevel review of the differences at the task level as they relate to the guidance provided in this book. According to IEEE Std 1012-2004, the following changes were made to its Table 1 - VV reformatted test tasks to uniquely identify requirements for each test type; added a subtask to the scoping of VV and corrected previous editorial errors Where an IEEE Std 1012-1998 task was removed in the updated version. The changes between IEEE Std 1012-1998 and IEEE Std 1012-2004 can be organized into four categories. The impact on the guidance for adaptive software systems is noted for each category.
