Microcomputer Infection Surveillance System
WILLIAM S. WISE · PubMed Central · 1984
This report describes a set of microcomputer programs designed to streamline and assist with infection control monitoring. The system is designed to capture patient demographic and culture data as well as the infection control practitioner's (ICP) evaluation of whether the infection is hospital (nosocomial) or community acquired. Once the data are acquired, they can be sorted and printed in a multitude of ways to generate various detailed line reports and tables. Organism sensitivity profiles and sites of infection tables can also be generated. The variety of reports which can be generated require virtually no additional expenditure of ICP time. In addition, since the system uses a personal computer, there is unlimited access anytime to the data. Trends can be examined and data updated anytime of the month.
