Master of Arts in EducationThis project is based on a STEM program for elementary school students aimed at changing the way girls feel about STEM.A review of literature that informs the project reveals that girls lack interest in STEM education and women are underrepresented in STEM fields. To change the attitudes of female students, a STEM program will involve 5 th grade girls in STEM technology-based activities. These activities will incorporate project-based learning and high-interest, real-world topics to foster a more positive attitude towards STEM.This project has been designed to enable elementary school teachers to address the low representation of women in STEM careers by exposing school-aged girls to options that become available when they invest their efforts in STEM education.
