Macintosh computers can use the Windows operating system in order to run Windows software. The Microsoft company requires that each installation of its software be activated and in the instance where a single installation of MS software is utilised twice - that is, the software installation is installed on the Macintosh under the Boot Camp utility and that same installation is utilised by a Virtual Machine program (such as Parallels Desktop or VMWare Fusion) - then the same software installation must be activated a second time.
