EDID: An Environment for Distributed Integrated Design

AJ Morris · International Aerospace Congress 1995: Proceedings; Second Pacific International Conference on Aerospace and Technology; Sixth Australian Aeronautical Conference · 1995

The paper presents the results from a major European research programme into the possible use of high speed Wide Area Networks to allow design groups at different locations to cooperate in a design project. The project has directed its efforts exclusively at the design of aerospace structures and has exploited the European ATM pilot. The resulting software and communications systems have been trialed within the industry and have proved that an environment for distributed integrated design can be created.
