A Novel Application Identification Method for NGN

Traditional application identification methods such as signature and port number based methods are not appropriate for emerging application including as IPTV and VOIP. Thus, we propose Cotent Hybrid Method (CHM) for application identification. The CHM uses two mapping methods; protocol mapping and signature mapping. The CHM is more effiecient and rapid than signature based method. In addition, the CHM can identify an application which has no signature or does no use a static port number.
