Bit-slice Microprocessor Development
GD Brownlie · 1979
There is a frequent demand for high speed microprocessors, particularly in the fields of real-time control and signal processing. Modern bit-slice microprogrammable microprocessors can now fill this need, at the expense of some effort on the part of the designer. This paper briefly describes the characteristics of microprogrammable microprocessors, important considerations in their design, and techniques for microprogram development. The need for integrated hardware and software design is emphasised, and a procedure for microprocessor development is suggested.
