Speech Synthesis for Italian Language and its Applications

A brief review of the activity in the field of speech synthesis for Italian language is presented. A representation of the language based on the definition of a basic set of standard speech-reproducing units is discussed. The implementation of a hardware speech synthesizer is described together with the software which is necessary for an efficient use of it in the interaction of blind people with a computer.
