Control and Computational Systems

GB Farquhar · 1976

The Common User Data Network (C.U.D.N.) was conceived as a highly reliable store and forward message switching system to provide continuous availability to the user. This paper defines the reliability specification and then discovers the major problems requiring solution so that the ultimate system reaches the reliability specified. The paper demonstrates that the reliability specification was achieved within the basic framework of the sub-system layout and functions originally conceived. It will conclude by outlining the actual performance achieved and relate that performance to the specifications which formed the basis of the design parameters.
