Marcian N. Cirstea, Jeen Ghee Khor, Corneliu Marinescu · 2005
The research work carried out in the area of design, simulation and implementation of an intelligent fuzzy logic controller for a diesel-driven generator system, which can be applied to hybrid electric vehicles, is presented in the paper. The controller has been developed using Hardware Description Languages and is implemented in a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). The advantages of the control scheme are underlined in the paper. They are mostly concerned with the optimum variable speed operation of the diesel engine - generator system, enabled by the controller, and the maintenance of constant level of the output voltage under variable load conditions. Experimental results proved the correct operation of the system.
