Handbook of sensor networking: advanced technologies and applications (vacca, j. r.; 2015) [book review]
Satyajayant Misra · IEEE Wireless Communications · 2015
Wireless sensor networks have been glorified as the technology of the future for the last two decades without much resultant real-world implementation and large-scale use. However, recently with the proposal of the Internet of Things (IoT) concept, the use of wireless sensors and hence wireless sensor networks has received a significant boost. Wireless sensor networks are being used in diverse domains, such as the human body, vehicles, and the smart grid. Research in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) has also evolved, moving from the realm of theory to system design, implementation, and optimization. This book attempts to fulfill this. The primary audience for this book are researchers and practitioners in industry and academia working in the broad area of sensor hardware, communication protocols, software architectures, data manipulation, sensor location, and so on. The book also provides perspective for general readers including technologists, lawmakers, and students.
