The easiest way to start installing SQL Server 2000 is to slip the CD into your drive and close the door. That should automatically start the installation and display the SQL Server Installation screen (see Figure 2–1). If you haven’t done so already, then you will need to install the prerequisites. To install the prerequisites or just view what they are, select SQL Server 2000 Prerequisites. If you need to install them, you’ll probably have to reboot your computer. If you do have to reboot and the SQL Server Installation screen doesn’t reappear, just open and close the CD drive to restart the installation process.
