J.B. Thompson, Margaret Clunies Ross, Geoff Staples · WIT transactions on information and communication technologies · 1970

The high cost to industry of poor quality software has resulted in greater and greater interest in Software Quality. Within the UK, the production for the Department of Trade and Industry of the TickIT Guide to Software Quality Management System Construction and Certification using EN 29001 and the following TickIT initiative may be seen as a watershed. In the paper a perspective of the past (the pre TickIT years) and present (the post TickIT years) are presented. These are followed by some predictions for the future and identification of those areas which should now receive the greatest attention.
