Application Oriented Teaching in Measurement and Instrumentation in Faculties of Mechanical and Process Engineering
Reza Talebi-Daryani · 1994
Measurement and Instrumentation (M and I) is one of the important and future oriented branches of engineering science. Application takes place in all parts of engineering. Engineers and scientists of all branches ought to solve problems in M and I. Application oriented knowledge is not only necessary for M and I-specialists, but also for many engineers not being directly involved in this special field. Mechanical and process (m and p) engineers are involved in project design and operation of processing and M and I systems in industry and research. Only well trained Engineers in M and I sciences in connection with process or mechanical engineering will be able to solve efficiently processing, automation and instrumentation problems on industrial and applied research projects. The consequences for engineering schools is to implement an innovative (using modern laboratories for intensifying and proving of theoretical appropriated knowledge in M and I on a real process) and integrative (in co-operation with the industry for realising of bi-directional technology transfer) teaching method in application oriented M and I sciences.
