David Forrest · 1997
The paper will explore the place of Dmitri Kabalevsky's piano music in contemporary pedagogic practice. In Kabalevsky's piano music for children the student is introduced to a variety of 'new sounds' in an educational context that is accessible, enjoyable and rewarding. Technique and musicianship are gradually developed advancing both performance skills and creativity. Specific reference is made to the Thirty-Five Easy Pieces Op. 89 and other elementary works for children from Piano Music for Children and Young People.
