RFID technology is currently widely accepted by various LIS software using number of protocols. NCIP is one such Open Protocol which is being developed NISO working group for interoperability of various hardware and software with each other. Unlike other proprietary protocols, NCIP is a protocol that is limited to the exchange of messages between and among computer-based applications to enable them to perform functions necessary to lend and borrow items, to provide controlled access to electronic resources, and to facilitate cooperative management of these functions while using RFID technology
