Censorship: Trends and Paradoxes

We are a very long way from the old cliches about censorship - from the battles of yesteryear in which quite a few people saw censorship as stemming some tide they feared might engulf and undermine civilisation and corrupt youth, while others thought that only when the last censor was hanged by the entrails of the last professional decency-monger, would true and unfettered creative freedom flourish.
