A Method of Measurement of Multimedia Network Traffic and Performance

Abstract With the expansion and development of Internet, management of traffic and performance are increasingly important and urgent. The demand for multimedia real-time services continues to grow rapidly, bringing forth enormous challenges in the management of their supporting networks. This paper deals with one method of measurement of multimedia network traffic and performance, by means of which network managers can real time analyse network traffic, monitor the traffic distribution and decode protocols in the 7-layer. They can make trend analysis and anticipation of network use. So network managers will play an active role in multimedia network management, problem analysis and recommendation of solutions so as to eliminate hidden problems.
