Towards an ad-hoc mobile social learning network using mobile phones

Ferial Khaddage, Christoph Lattemann · 2009

This paper discusses some important aspects which mobile phones can bring into the classroom by employing a new technology, namely AMNets. Portable devices with Bluetooth interfaces, such as mobile phones and PDAs, are enabled for near field (< 30 meter) communication. Existing concepts for Bluetooth communication such as MANets (transfer mobile ad-hoc networks) still rely on stationary client-server architectures for communications purposes. In contrast to this, the approach of an ad-hoc messaging network (AMNet) relies on peer-to-peer store-and-forward principles to pass messages and spread data asynchronously without using hub infrastructures; hence no clientserver architecture is necessary. Therefore a possible integration method using an Adhoc network connection, which may also increase collaboration level among student will be discussed and proposed
