Musical Desegregation of Acoustic Space
Neil M. McLachlan · Context · 2003
Auditory stream segregation is vital for understanding the perception of auditory fields and construction of the auditory self in relation to acoustic space is explored using Lacanian psychological theory. This is a review of auditory cues implicated in perception of consonance and other musical devices and purpose that musical efficacy may be partly due to the desegregation of auditory streams, leading to a partial collapse of the subject's sense of acoustic space.
