Use of Process Computer for Electrostatic Precipitators
HW Schummer, F. Neulinger · 1981
This paper represents a process computer system which makes it possible to monitor, coordinate, control and operate the entire 'Electrostatic Precipitation' plant in an optimum way from one central point. On the one hand, the process computer system performs functions which are related to the central plant operation and on the other hand technological functions which are exclusively adapted to the dust collection process. The technological functions comprise for example a rapping cycle optimization of the dust collecting electrodes, the control of the clean gas dust content by presetting the precipitation voltage set point to the inferior microcomputer controls of the transformer-rectifier sets with the total energy consumption of the electrostatic precipitation plant being minimized at the same time. Control and optimization of a conditioning plant are possible as well. On the basis of the technological functions to be performed by the process computer, the functions of the different system components, such as the inferior microcomputer controls for the transformer-rectifier sets and the programmable logic controls for the drives of the electrostatic precipitation plant will be described.
