A Benchmark programming assignment suite for quantitative analysis of student performance in early programming courses

In general, standard benchmark suites are critically important for researchers to quantitatively evaluate their new ideas and algorithms. This paper proposes a suite of benchmark programming assignments to evaluate student performance in early programming courses. Moreover, some future challenges involved in extending this suite to address advanced programming courses is also discussed.
