The Faxon Company traces its roots back to 1881. For more than a century, this company was part of the landscape of the world of scholarly communications. This article briefly documents the history of the Faxon Company, and chronicles the events that occurred following its final days. Insight is given into the nature of the relationships among publishers, vendors and libraries.
