Gluing Standards Together to Make Them Work

The utility of the emerging concepts of electronic data interchange (EDI) and a common conversion system to exchange data among different cad packages in different computer systems to transfer data in a business environment is discussed. The challenges faced in implementing these strategies are described, also stating that the innovative approach designed by integrating various standards is the best solution in the absence of a consistent standard to solve the problems.
