ROUTE MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES

This paper outlines the Route Management Study (RMS) process and will concentrate on the main features of an RMS study, with suggestions on how the accepted process could be improved. The main features include: (1) a scope the RMS; (2) a description of the RMS including data collection and analysis, with use of a Geographical Information System (GIS), preparation of route performance frameworks, consultation processes; and (3) development of a 10-year strategy for the delivery of improvements to the network.
