C++ has now become a major player in desktop system development, but attempting to apply it embedded systems often proves to be frustrating. C++ hides detail which can make it very difficult for programmer attempting to understand what is happening in a C++ program, particularly when attempting to understand performance issues. Various criteria can be applied for selecting which parts embedded systems might be suitable for C++ and for using it effectively.
