IASM 2009 Preface

2009

Welcome to the 2009 International Workshop on Information Assurance and Security Management (IASM 2009), which focuses on the latest ideas in the broad spectrum of issues involved in the expansion and protection of information and communications infrastructures that are of contemporary interest to computer scientists and engineers. The workshop has an exciting technical program of 5 papers submitted by researchers and practitioners from academia and industry. These papers were selected from 17 submissions after going through a rigorous refereeing procedure to ensure the high quality of the conference. Each paper was carefully evaluated by two reviewers. It was extremely difficult to select the presentations for the workshop because there were so many excellent and interesting ones. To allocate as many papers as possible and keep the high quality of the symposium, we finally decided to accept 7 papers for oral presentations. Organizing a workshop requires the contributions of many people. First of all, we would like to thank the members of the Program Committee for reviewing the manuscripts in a timely fashion. We highly appreciate the time and enthusiasm they put into completing the review. We deeply appreciate the tremendous efforts of all the members of the I-SPAN 20009 Organizing Committee, especially Prof. Don-Lin Yang, I-SPAN 2009 Workshop Chair, for his help and guidance over the past few months. Additionally, we thank Prof. Chung-Ming Huang, I-SPAN 2009 General Chair, and Prof. Ren-Hung Hwang, I-SPAN 2009 Program Chair, for their advice and continuous support. Last but not least, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all the authors and participants because your contributions made IASM 2009 a grand success. We hope that you will take part in lively research discussions in IASM-2009. We also hope that participants will find some time to enjoy the beauty of the Kaohsiung city.
