Indoor radio communication systems are affected by multi-path transmissions which produces frequency-selective fading. In such a channel, inter symbol interference (1%) occurs and degrades the quality of transmission. To solve this problem multi-carrier modulation technique is considered to be effective recently. In this paper we propose Partial Frequency ARQ (Automatic Repeat reQuest) system which can achieve effective retransmission for multi-carrier packet communication. This system operates a partial retransmission of erroneous power faded packets, and it is superior to the traditional ARQ systems. Furthermore two different protocols are examined for this system: Dynamic Carrier Assignment (DCA) and Static Carrier Assignment (SCA). By computer simulation we found that DCA method can achieve better performances than SCA for both throughput and packet transmission delay.
