The main features of the recent data obtained for e$sup +$e$sup -$ annihilation are discussed. Stress is put upon two items especially. R=sigma(e$sup +$e$sup -$$Yields$Had)/sigma(e$sup +$e$sup -$$Yields$$mu$$sup +$$mu$$sup -$) rises from about 2 or 3 at E(c.m).=3 GeV up to between 4 and 7 at 5 GeV; correspondingly, sigma(e$sup +$e$sup -$$Yields$Had) is about 22+-5nb throughout this range. The data for e$sup +$e$sup -$$Yields$H(p)+... is consistent with the hypothesis that s(dsigma/dx) scales (i.e. is a function of x only) for x>1/2, where x=2p$Root$s. For x<1/2 there is a strong s-dependence (the data being nowhere compatible with the hypothesis that 1/sigma (dsigma/dx) scales). (FR)
