Data mining a large health insurance database

Antonio F. Gualtierotti · WIT transactions on information and communication technologies · 2000

There are many data mining problems which do not fit easily into the textbook mold of data mining exposition and software tools. In fact, most real life problems have a wider, less precisely defined scope than that of typical data mining discourse. One such example, for which a data mining project is under way, is presented and commented. The attendant difficulties as well as some potentially available tools (those that are presently tried, or eventually will be) are described and their (lack of) merit discussed.
