Silica coated magnetite nanoparticles for removal of heavy metal ions from polluted waters

Monika Dash · CERN Document Server (European Organization for Nuclear Research) · 2013

Magnetic removal of Hg2+ and other heavy metal ions like Cd2+, Pb2+ etc. using silica coated magnetite particles from polluted waters is a current topic of active research to provide efficient water recycling and long term high quality water. The technique used to study the bonding characteristics of such kind of nanoparticles with the heavy metal ions is a very sensitive hyperfine specroscopy technique called the perturbed angular correlation technique (PAC).
