High speed data communication is widely seen as one of the main driving forces towards broadband networks. Local Area Networks (LANs) are commonly designed to serve this purpose within the small geographical area. The interconnection of LANs is one of the most challenging services that B-ISDN (Broad-band Integrated Services Digital Network ) has to provide. The main problems of the interconnection LANs to B-ISDN are the support of connectionless traffic in B-ISDN and dynamic bandwidth allocation of connectionless traffics in B-ISDN. Here we propose a method of bandwidth allocation for the interconnection of LANs to B-ISDN. This method is based on the peak rate allocation, but it has the feed back cell loss probability information to adaptively allocate the bandwidth. The proposed mechanism prevents congestion on receiving gateways and B-ISDN node. The simulation results show that our proposed method has a simple mechanism and the satisfied performance.
