A Portable User Interface for Fortran Programs

Roger George Hadgraft · Annual Conference on Computers · 1983

A reusable package of subprograms which supports a flexible, interactive, command language is presented. A tree structure (of indefinite complexity) of commands may be used. Such a structure decomposes into a sequence of menus which may be viewed by the program user through the package's Help facility. Not only does this approach provide the user with a friendly interface through which to control the program, but it forces the program author to modularise his program, which leads to a cleaner design, and modifiable code.
