We have developed three applications for studying physical dynamics based on the componentware approach, which has been developed out of research focusing on language-learning education. One important advantage of the componentware methodology is in meeting requirements for computer usage in the real educational world. Our research aims at producing components which provide education in physical dynamics for freshman university physics courses. In this paper we will first describe several applications and components we have developed, after which we will introduce a “zero-programming” application made by a student as evidence of the effectiveness of componentware in meeting educational goals. Finally, we will discuss the feasibility of utilizing the componentware-based approach in CAI application development.
