Large families of quadriphase code-sequences with low correlation properties

In this paper the construction and the correlation properties of quadriphase code-sequences are described. We construct large families which consist of K = Nα, α > 1, sequences of length N, especially a family with a size K ≈ N2 and a periodic peak correlation parameter (formula) is investigated. The main field of application of these families is asynchronous direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (DS-CDMA) systems. Since the performance of these systems does not only depend on the periodic peak correlation parameter we have also instigated the other peak correlation parameters and the mean-square correlation on which the signal-to-noise ratio depend. Finally, some simulation results on the bit-error rate are presented and the performance of systems with quadriphase sequences is compared to the results on systems using binary sequences.
