The validity of assuming the equality of the unretarded di-.pole muon capture matrix elements, (Mjl,0,,(MI:),9,and (M ),D,is in-16 ' in the giant dipole region, and the muon capture supermultiplet remains substantially pure.In all cases, (M:) .a=(M;)•,D.=(ivc)U, D. remains a valid assumption to within twelve percent.
