Using Web Services

Matthew A. MacDonald · Apress eBooks · 2004

The past couple of chapters examined how to design and code web services. By now you realize that web services are really standard business objects that provide a powerful built-in communication framework that allows you to interact with them over the Internet. However, you still don’t know how this interaction takes place. In this chapter, you’ll examine how to create a simple ASP.NET client for your StockQuote web service. Then, for a little more fun, you’ll see how to access a real, mature web service on the Internet: Microsoft’s TerraService, which exposes a vast library of millions of satellite pictures from a database that is 1.5 TB in size. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
