The purpose of this introductory chapter is to give the reader an overview of the contents of the monograph and show how the chapters are tied together. We give a brief description of each chapter but with emphasis on how the chapters fit in the monograph and the general subject area. The descriptions are not meant to replace, but to supplement, the chapters’ abstracts, which summarize the chapters’ main results. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
