Water vapor, atmospheric electricity, and radon transfer to the near-surface soil layers and the atmosphere

В.Н. Шулейкин · Izvestiya Atmospheric and Oceanic Physics · 2015

Water vapor is able to transfer radon to the near-surface atmosphere. The ionizer concentration changes insignificantly because of the small thickness of the soil layer, from which evaporation occurs. The injection of water vapor into the near-surface air increases the density of neutral condensation nuclei and the atmospheric electric field. Evaporation clears the pore space, which facilitates the discharge of radon to the atmosphere and the enhancement of polar air conductivity.
