Using puzzle simulations to introduce object oriented programming with BYOB
John Pais · 2014
Brian Harvey and Jens Monig in their seminal paper [1], describe how their Scratch extension, BYOB (Build Your Own Blocks), provides powerful object oriented functionality, e.g. objects (sprites), object attributes, and lists as first class data, including lists of objects, lists of lists, lists of procedures; together with the ability to create encapsulated procedures (new blocks) that may have any of these new data types as an input or output data type, and that permit recursion.
