Objective: To investigate the effects of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) on the expressions of carboxylesterase1 and 2 in mouse liver and intestine. Methods: All mice except controls received an intraperitoneal injection of LPS 5.0mg/kg.The mice were sacrificed at 24h after LPS treatment.Liver and Intestine carboxylesterase1 and 2 mRNA were determined by real-time PCR.Carboxylesterase activities was measured by the para-nitrophenylacetate reagent.Liver and Intestine carboxylesterase1 and 2 protein levels were determined by Western Blot. Results: LPS not only inhibited the expressions of liver carboxylesterase1 and 2,but also down-regulated the levels of carboxylesterase1 and 2 of intestine.Furthermore,LPS repressed the carboxylesterase catalytic activity in mice livers and intestines. Conclusions: LPS suppresses the expressions of carboxylesterase1 and 2 in mouse liver and intestine.
