The Functional Tree: Its Usage as an Evaluation and Specification Tool for the RAN

This paper introduces the idea of the functional tree and the use it has been for the Oceanographic Hydrographic Ship Project for the Request for Tender Evaluation. The paper provides background to the use of the technique and presents a conceptual model for the description of a system. It then relates some of the lessons learnt, possible enhancement and discusses the use of the functional tree as a specification tool before concluding with a list of benefits.
