LHC performanceDuring 2010/2011 ran at 7 TeV -Peak luminosity of 3.6 x 10 33 cm 2 s --1 (~4 Higgs bosons produced/minute) -This resulted in more than 5 b --1 collected by ATLAS by the end of 2011 -About half the data was recorded in the final month of running -Final ATLAS dataset at 7 TeV: 5.25 ?--1 (~100,000 Higgs bosons produced) The ATLAS Detector • Inner Tracking Detector -Tracking out to |η|< 2.5 -Immersed in a 2T B--field -Three subsystems: • Silicon pixels • Silicon strips • Transi7on Radia7on Tracker (straws)  e/π separa7on σ p /p T ~4x10 --4 x p T (GeV) ⊕ 0.015  Calorimeters  EM: Pb--LAr "Accordian", e/γ measurements and trigger, σ/E ~ 10%/E 1/2  HAD: |η|< 5, central (Fe/7les) and forward (Cu/ LAr), measurements/trigger of jets and missing E T , σ/E ~ 50%/E 1/2 ⊕ 0.03  Muon spectrometer  Toroid with gas--based µ chambers  µ measurement/trigger, σ/p < 10% More details in Stefania Xella's talk
